This year’s Summer Sonic Festival will mark the 20th anniversary of this yearly celebration of some of the best music out there.
Usually taking place on two days in August, one additional day has been added this year. However, the organizer Creativeman Productions made sure the lineup is not watered down by that extension. In fact, we’re pretty certain that this year’s lineup will delight both, fans of Japanese music as well as fans of international artists.
The 2019 headliners are Red Hot Chili Peppers, B’z (one of, if not the most successful Japanese Rock act) and The Chainsmokers.
Some further big names include Babymetal, Radwimps, The 1975, Alan Walker, Chvrches, ZEDD and Weezer.
There’s something more that’s new this year: there will be no “Sonic Mania” all-night event leading up to the festival in Tokyo. However, there’s Midnight Sonic in the night between Saturday and Sunday where the J-Electro band Sakanaction among other acts will take care of the all-night party.
