The Japan women’s national soccer team, also known as Nadeshiko Japan, is a professional football team based in Tokyo, Japan. The team was founded in 1980 and has achieved significant success in international competitions, winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2011 and reaching the runner-up position in the 2015 edition. The team has also won the AFC Women’s Asian Cup on three occasions. Nadeshiko Japan’s home games are hosted at various stadiums across Japan, including the National Stadium in Tokyo which has a seating capacity of 68,000.
